Professor of EEC (Advisor). f Lambda Alpha Epsilon is an association devoted to furthering professionalism in ail areas of criminal justice. It strives to encourage greater cooperation among criminal justice agencies and to promote greater understanding between the community and the profession. Its membership fosters more responsive training and education to fulfill the needs of the profession through sponsorships of seminars, technical materials, and personal contacts. The association serves as a national voice on key issues of the profes- sion. Membership is composed of persons who are for- mally committed to the field of criminal justice either through their education or their employment. Chapters are organized as professional, collegiate, or a com- bination of both, depending on eligible members in the community. Memberships arc drawn from the total criminal justice spectrum-law enforcement, prosecu- tion dcfensc. courts and corrections. Kung Fu Club 257 .Kung Fu Club. The PSU Kung Fu Club is a recrea- tional organization which directs itself to teaching the Chinese Martial Arts through athletic meetings held three times per week. Connected with the Wu Shu In- stitute in Boston, the PSU club is the only Chinese style martial arts club in the area. Various demonstrations and performances for town and campus related events are among the unique services the club provides. In addition, the Kung Fu Club has specialized teams which compete in various tour- naments. Larch Student Society The Landscape Architecture Stu- dent Society sponsored two fund- raisers during the fall—an outdoor plant sale and a pumpkin and cider sale on the Mall, and also organ- ized a spring banquet honoring all graduating landscape architecture students. The society, with 117 members, sponsors lectures during the year, sends a group of Larch students to a national convention, and provides a co-op service that sells drafting materials and prints to society members at a discount. The Penn State Univer- sity Society of Student So- cial Workers provides many opportunities for its members. The club is well known for its service activi- ties in the community. The students of social welfare arc instrumental in dis- tributing public welfare in- formation to the commu- nity. The club co-sponsored a toy fund drive to benefit mentally retarded children.
