Karate Club The Penn State Karate Club is an organi- zation consisting of student officers and both student and nonstudent members age 12 and up. The club’s activities include the practice of self defense through a rigorous physical and mental discipline program. Karate demonstrations are presented each term in which members show the pub- lic their proficiency in unarmed combat and self defense. The club also does small dem- onstrations for grade schools and high schools. Several times a year, members represent the club in karate tournaments for various karate styles. Fund-raising activities arc held to pay for club equipment and facil- ities. During the summer of 78. Kung Fu Club 257 .Kung Fu Club. The PSU Kung Fu Club is a recrea- tional organization which directs itself to teaching the Chinese Martial Arts through athletic meetings held three times per week. Connected with the Wu Shu In- stitute in Boston, the PSU club is the only Chinese style martial arts club in the area. Various demonstrations and performances for town and campus related events are among the unique services the club provides. In addition, the Kung Fu Club has specialized teams which compete in various tour- naments.
