The Wherrys enjoy coffee at h Students find Professor Wherry a stimulating teacher ome Ralph H. Wherry, better known as I'Sam Wherry, has been teaching Penn State students for nearly 15 years. During the eight years prior to his appointment here, he taught at the Univer- sity of West Virginia. He serves as professor of insurance and head of the Department of Commerce and Manage- ment. Recognized as on outstanding teacher, he is popular with the students who schedule his courses. He is popular with other students, too, who come to know him through his work with student groups and organizations. Professor Wherry serves as chairman of the Senate Committee on Athletics. He is adviser to Parmi Nous and Skull and Bones, campus societies; and Phi Chi Theta, professional come merce fraternity. In I958, e was chosen by Alpha Kappa Psi, national professional fraternity in business administration, for the national Alumni Award. Born in Pitcairn, Pa., on Aug. 7, I905, Pro- fessor Wherry received his bachelor of arts de- gree from Penn State in I932 and his master of arts degree, also from Penn State, in I939. In I945, he was named a Chartered Lite Under- writer. He is the author or co-author of four books in the field of insurance. In recognition of his service to Penn State, as an alumnus, as a teacher, and as a friend of students, we are pleased to dedicate this vqume, the I961 LA VIE, to Ralph H. Sam Wherry.
