Many thousands enjoyed the Centennial Exhibition 'Tennsylvuniu Painters. arranged by Dr. Dicksun Dr. Dickson has been teaching Penn Stale students history and appreciation of art for nearly 35 years For nearly forty years, Dr. Harold Edward pickson has been a part of The Pennsylvania State Universtty as a Sindent, alumnus, and teacher. A graduate in architectural engineering in 1922, he has served on the faculty since 1923, teaching fine arts, arChitecture, and descriptive geometry. He is remeinbered y thousands of students for his lectures in art appreCIatlon. During his years at Penn State, Dr. Dickson has been Untiring in his efforts to bring works of art to the campus. T 886 have included the Land-Crant Frescoes in Old Main, the Lion Shrine, and the Centennial Exhibition, iiPennsyl- vania Painters? which he organized in 1955, as well as various individual paintings in the University Collection. Dr. Dickson, who received his master of arts and doctor of philosophy degrees from Harvard University, is a charter member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity at Penn State and of Thebes chapter of Scarab, and an initial member of Pi Gamma Alpha, fine arts fraternity. We are proud to dedicate our yearbook, the 1957 LA VIE. to a man who has been a friend and adviser to nearly two generations of students, to one whose efforts and intellect have been directed toward a better Penn State, to Dr. Harold Edward Dickson.
