0. . Feb. 27, 1950, the new president made his first vusut to Penn State and was greeted by thousands DEDICATION Five years ago, Dr. Milton S. Eisenhower accepted the presidency of The Pennsylvania State University. His years on the campus have been years of great progress for our University. They have been marked by a great expansion of the physical plant, by the entry into new and important fields in research, instruction, and extension, and by a growing service to the people of the Commonwealth. Although faced With the many complex problems that come With a growing institu- tion, President Eisenhower has maintained an active interest in the aftairs 0f the student at Penn State. President Eisenhower brought into reality the long hoped-for student union building, instituted the annual Mont Alto Encampment program to learn firsthand the problems of students and share administrative problems, has maintained a personal interest in improv- ing the recreation program for students, has greatly expanded the scholarship program to help the needy and deserving student, and has planned the All-Faith Chapel to improve the religious life on campus. It is because we consider our hPrexyb not only one of the leading educators in the nation, but also a real champion of the stu- dent that we dedicate this, the Centennial LA VIE7 to our president, Dr. Nlilton Stover Eisenhower.
