FOREWORD During the four eventful years that we, the members of the Class of 1954, have studied here, we have seen momentous changes on the campus of The Pennsyl- vania State University. As the hrst freshman Class to be admitted to the main campus since the end of World War II, we were, from the beginning, an important part of these Changes. Since that important day in 1950, we have seen the completion of residence halls for men, of needed labora- tories and classrooms, and of expanded library facilities, all Changes that have helped to make it possible For us to attend Penn State. As we leave the campus, we see a Student Union Building nearing completion and hear of plans for other structures, including a Student Health Center. We have, therefore, Chosen buildings, the symbols of growth and progress For Penn State, as a theme for our class annual. Looking beyond the campus, we have seen hundreds of fellow students, now alumni, go into the Fight against open aggression, some on the bleak battlefields of Korea, others in laboratories or in industries, supporting that fight. We have watched as we have prepared ourselves, conscious that we too must think in global terms and be prepared to come to grips with the basic facts of modern international life. In this, our class annual, we have recorded the events of these important years of preparation, these years that have been years of growth and progress for each of us, as well as for Penn State, our University, and now, our Alma Mater.
