FCDREWORD OBIORROVVZS memories will include pleasant thoughts of coffee hours and classes, week-end dates and dances, college songs and midnight snacks. i But they will also include a clearer under- standing of the less tangible advantages of Penn State-those unseen forces that hind together stu- dents ol many races, colors, and creeds in the mutual respect that leads to a world of peace and international co-operation. Your 1952 LA XZIE records many of the tan- gihle facts in your four years at Penn State. It is hoped that the less tangihle factors that have played an important role in your college life have left their marli in the mind and the heart. If this he true, we, as alumni, can always he proud to identify ourselves as Penn State, Class of SZ.

NDREVV VVALLACE CASE, Professor of Pine Arts, has been the guiding hand of LA V IE for twenty-five years. During this quarter of a century that Andy Case has so generously given both time and advice in his capacity as Art Critic, LA VIE has become one of the leading college yearboolts in the United States. His invaluable guidance and criticism have made him largely responsible for the enviable number of All-American honors won by our class annual. Since Professor Case came to Penn State in 1926, his interest in students has extended beyond the classroom. He was a charter member and adviser of Pi Camma Alpha, fine arts honoraryg has been active in Scarab, professional architecture fraternity: serves as faculty adviser to the Penn State Engineer' in addition to LA VrEg is an adviser to Alpha Phi Delta fraternity, and is a lecturer for the Newman Club. He has also worked with students in many other activities. It is with great pride, therefore, that we, the editors of the 1952 LA VIE, express our genuine appreciation and gratitude by dedicating this, his twenty-hfth book, to Andrew W. Case -- brilliant artist and scholar, inspiring teacher, understanding adviser, sincere friend.
