BELL Director; College Editor The Department of Public Information is responsible for disseminating information about the College to the general public. This is done through news releases to the press and radio, television broadcasts. and the is- suance of oflicial College publications. News stories are sent regularly to the 500 daily and weekly newspapers in Pennsylvania and to press asso- ciations. These include sports, human interest stories. interviews with faculty members, reports on research projects, and stories based on general campus news. Hometown papers are kept informed of the activities of their students. The publications stail edits and prepares for printing nearly 250 publications annually, including bulletins on the courses and curricula offered in residence and also extension service news. The Department also assembles and disseminates oFr licial and other information for stall members. The Faculty Bulletin is published weekly and last October a new publication, The College, was introduced. It is a monthly magazine for all employees. REECE Assistant in Charge, Student PartrTime Placement Director Designed to co-ordinate the placement activities of all schools and departments of the College, the College Placement Service functions primarin as a clearing house to bring together students, department heads, and rep- resentatives of industries or agencies who are seeking specifically-trained personnel. Alumni of the College, desiring a change of employ- ment, also are registered with the College Placement Service. They are advised of current employment op- portunities. The College Placement Service has grown steadily since its organization in 1943 and now maintains con met with 2500 sources of employment. These associa- tions enable the Service to keep informed of current and developing needs and opportunities in industry, educa- tion, and other fields. In addition to assisting graduating seniors to locate employment, the College Placement Service helps in- dustrv to find trained men and women to fill its needs. Thus the Service can be of assistance to the industries of the Commonwealth as well as to the student or gradu- ate. Functioning as a part of the College Placement Ser- vice is Student Employment, an oHice established to aid undergraduate students obtain part'time employment. The service also assists prospective employers to locate clhcient, student, part-time help. The College Placement Service also aids interested students bv counseling them on preparation and presen- tation for employment in a desired field.
