CLASS HISTORY Its almost unbelley able isnt lt? ,lust think Senlors those good old high school days are nearly over and soon they ll be merely fond 190 memories of our past That first year half of us were a batch of scared llttle kids at the high school and the rest of us were feeling pretty cocky as the top class at the Junior Hlgh I our Sophomore year we Joined forces and from then we really forged ahead Gerald Dunkle was chosen our class president Albert Werner vice president Norma Herr secretary and Morrls Rvlee treasurer 'Ihat December our class gave a peppv assem blv program and we started the Christmas vacatlon 1n a festive splrlt by holding a party down ln the cafeterla Later ln the year a roller skating partv was sponsored by us By the end of May we d gotten used to butcherlng animals ln biology class and we were feeling pretty good about bemv a part of this school called Manor The fall of 51 we found ourselves on another rung up the ladder Some of us had sprung up so over the summer that we practically had to Introduce ourselves to our teachers and friends Bill Hutchinson June Reese Ruth Evans and Morris Rylee were our class officers respectively Bill was chosen sports editor of the Manor H1L1ghts and Patsy Flory assistant editor another important position the Key Club presidency was filled by MOITIS Rylee As Juniors we started the year rolling with a roller skating party at Maple Grove That fall the Drama Club Junlors entered that thriller dlller one act mystery White Phantom ln the Drama Night program at Millersville State Teachers College Our class assembly program really put em lll the aisles remember lt? The theme was Open House 1n a One Room School Mary Splese the prim and proper school teacher had quite a tlme getting her puplls to behave On November 20 Patsy Flory was the happy winner of the county VOICE of Democracy contest In the state compe t1t1on she placed sixth among the forty contestants In February came the hlghllght history Green Valley Who ll eyer forget MIHHICS magic milk those colossal cornstalks and the spirited old ghosts? ln the spring many of us helped to make Plckels a success No we didn t go into the manufacturlng business Plckels was the school operetta Arthur Shoemaker was that on the ball advertiser for Penmngtons pickles Sylvia Lefever Warren Erb Donald Gehr Patsy Flory and Blll Hutchinson also had roles One spring day we were all herded down to the college chapel and seven of us Arlene Herr Beatrice Klttrldge Patsy Flory Albert Werner Warren Erb William Hutchinson and Richard Stoner were ceremonlously inducted lnto the National Honor SOClCty We were all proud of Bill Hutchinson when he won first place ln the state lxey Club oratorlcal contest The last actnlty of our busy vear was Circus Carlac ture the farewell party we gave the Seniors Did those Hula Hula girls make em swoon' So we ended our Junior year no worse for the wear ln fact not only were our brains developed but our leg and lung power had been increased greatly due to our daily race to and from the fire hall During the following summer a lot of us worked some of us loafed and all of us realized that next year would be the last and we were wondering half fearfully what after that? ln June Bill Hutchinson went on to win second place in the National Key Club oratorlcal contest When we walked mto Manor last fall we felt just like old fixtures We were glad to see that the painters had performcd in our classrooms and halls during the Tweh e , . . , . . . .
