In the autumn of 1962, nearly one thousand Sopho- mores hesitated before they walked through the front doors of Penn Hills High. Each wondered what the next three years would hold for him and what experi- ences would become so important to him that he would remember them all his life. Some of those expe- riences have come to be our Sophomore year. We re- member the people we met who made such lasting impressions on us. Some we honored. We chose our Sophomore Class Officers--John Brown, President, Terry Casey, Vice-President, Jerry Zempel, Secretary, Ray Reilly, Treasurer-and our Coronation Court where Lois Clouse, queen, Terry Casey, king, Cheryl Gilbert, Marlene Lapinski, John Brown and Mike Mc- Cullough reigned. Under the direction of Mr. Bruce Murphy, we successfully staged our One-Act, The Sandbox and our class play, The Diary of Anne Frank. We remember other things which taken individually seem small, but together they are the kaleidoscope of our Sophomore year-the pep rallies and concerts, basketball games, and World Cultures, dances and Bye Bye Birdie-and the memories are good. We came back as upperclassmen and elected our officers to conduct class affairs. Mike McCullough, President, Bob Corcoran, Vice-President, Lois Clouse, Secretary, Barb Kellogg, Treasurer and Cathy Boyer, Historian, worked behind the scenes as the Junior Class compiled a fine record of accomplishments. We remember those accomplishments-Seeds of Suspicion, our One-Act, and The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,- activities such as My Fair Lady-with the realization that it was in achievement that we found our greatest high school rewards. Other things, too, are our Junior year-the Coronation Ball where Marcie Randour, queen, Bob Corcoran, King, and attendants Pat Towle, Sandy Massaro, Daryl Santella and John Wendell serves as the Junior Court, and the fine record of our football team. We worked hard and by the end of the year were ready to choose our leaders for the coming year. Bob Fayfich, Mike McCullough, Mary Jeannett and Lois Clouse became our Senior Class Oflicers. And now the memories are more distinct--the mag- azine assembly C065 has all the drivewj and the Fri- day afternoon we turned in 316,000 to send our total to a record 537,000 earned, the classes we could take for fun or because we were interested, the Senior Class Play, Teahouse of the August Moon, ably directed by Mrs. Mildred Dunham-and we know they will not leave us. Our Senior Year was the Coronation where Jackie Schilling and Paul Boyle and their attendants Jerry Zempel, Mary Jeannett, Bob Fayfich and Bob Landy reigned as the Senior Court, and the laughter of Class Day and the thousand meetings at the 2:30 dis- missal. The sadness of our Senior Year came only at the end with the finality of the signing yearbooks and Commencement rehearsals. Only at the end can we be sure that in years to come we will look back not with sadness, but with nostalgia as we remember how passed some of the best years of our lives.
