They have spent considerable time and energy working out and directing school policies. These citizens with their combined talents have given us greater educational opportunities and more modern facilities. We extend our sin- cere gratitude to the Board of Educa- tion for doing an excellent job. Then, too, We wish to pay tribute to the memory of Mr. Edward B. Messen- ger who passed away suddenly before the 1954-1955 term began. We know that the township has lost a very valu- able friend and leader in the educational field. Mr. Messenger served on the Board of Education for twelve years from 1943 to 1954 respectively, taking his turn in office as president, secretary and treasurer. The faculty, as Well as the student body, revere his memory and mourn his untimely passing. 'N J A-an Ak IN BIEMOIIIAM NIR. Many times we teenagers took the men in the administrative field for granted. We, however, point with pride to five efficient men who head our school. First is Dr. John H. Linton, the superintendent of schools. Since January 1947, he has met many chal- lenging school problems and has proved his ability to solve them. The assistant superintendent, Mr. Norman F. Hoelzle, supervised the program of the elementary school system. This year he took on a new responsibility-to supervise the maintenance department in the township. Dr. Arthur C. Kelley, former principal of Penn Junior High, served as Director of Secondary Education. The purpose of his work was to coordinate the program of the junior and senior high schools. Two capable persons in charge of the high school are Dr. Joseph E. Wherry, prin- cipal, and Mr. Matthew M. Alcorn, the assist- ant principal. Each one looked after the conduct and welfare of students whom they advised and directed to the major task of having a fuller and finer life. DR. ARTHUR C.
