SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Freshmen -1942-1943 Frightened Freshiesn . . . vainly seeking elevators at the end of the hall . . . timidly sneaking hasty glances behind doors for room numbers . . . eagerly absorbing the hustle, bustle, and ado of know it all upperclassmen . . . gradually replacing shy- ness with spirited loyalty at football games- fervently straining ears and eyes at assem- blies . . . joyously Hocking to all the dances with expectation in our hearts . . . futilely struggling with gruelling exams which marked the termination of our Il6V6r-tO- be forgotten freshmen daze. Sophomores - 1943-1944 uSmooth Sophomoresll got off to a flying start by welcoming the freshies with the rollicking 'fllookies Reception . . . dis- played the latest fashion fads-broomstick skirts, baggy sweaters, dirty saddles, dog collars, G.I. haircuts, plaid shirts, and bow ties . . . practiced the art of balancing books on crowded buses . . . racked our brains to solve the latest moron jokes . . . ransacked our wardrobes to End a suitable outfit for the Sophomore Roundup . . . prepared for Hnal exams . . . turned thoughts from studies to vacation plans. w Juniors - 1944-1945 Jaunty,1uniors . . . unaccustomed to the rights of upperclassmen . . . awaked by a daily race to catch the early bus . . . greeted in the halls by Hello, Joe, what do you know? . . . caught in the snow on December ll, snow, snow and more snow . . . sighed with relief when our Christmas dance turned out to be the Heart Beatw . . . elated by the success of june Mad . . . went wild with joy on May 8, V-li Day . . . became morose at the announcement of school last- ing until June 15 . . . freedom at last! Seniors - 1945-1946 Sophisticated Seniors . . . now feel our superiority . . . glad about the victory at the first football game under the lights. . .lumps in our throats after the last football pep meeting . . . stiff competition in magazine sales . . . smug over the success of Don't Take My Penny' . . . gay with excitement about the Prom but dejected by thoughts of departing . . . swept along by the wave of fast moving events - class day, the Junior-Senior Reception, baccalaureate, commencement . . . we had graduated . . . a class proud of its achievements . . . rich with happy memories . . . now the alumni of Penn High.
