THE FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA The Future Farmers of America is the national organ ization of farm boys studying agriculture in the public high schools throughout the United States, Six years following the founding of the organization at Kansas City, 47 states, the Territory of Hawaii and Puerto Rico, had formed Associations of Future Farmers of America affiliated with the national organization. There were at that time approximately 82,000 members in 5,500 local chapters. In these days, dangerous in their clamors for big ness, speed and luxury, one ne ds to remind himself that increase of possessions, whether of progerty or power, does not insure progress in satisfaction, This comes from the unfaltering pursuit and service of truth, beauty and goodness in every day llfe, and from furthering the happiness and prosperity of our fellows, To work in that way for the advancement of the comm unity, state and nation is the large inclusive aim which animates the Future Farmers of America. Below we have listed some of the things that the Penn Twp Chapters of Future Farmers of America does every year. It Provides an opportunity for us to take many trips, meet dilferent people and get acouainted with the different sections of Ohio by going to the Experiment Station nd State Fair Every ye r most of these things listed are carried out, 1. 12, 15. 14, 15, Hold annual pest hunt, Serve eats in cooperation with the F P A at Community Institute Take charge of exhibits at Community Fair, Sell candy and pop at basketball money for chapter, Take Educational Tour to Fleming Station Hold regular night meetings once Cooperate with rest of school in carnival. Hold Joint Christmas party with F H.A, Have contestant in F F,h Speaking Contest, Put on local Grange programs. Hold Parent, Son, and Daughter Banquet, Enter contestants in State Judging Contests. Exhibit projects at State and County Fair. The losing side in the pest aunt pay winning side with Weiner Roast. THE FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA 16 The boys cook their own meals and camp out at State Fair The Future Farmers of America must help to make life worth while by great satisfylng purposes in the lives of the plain people, which will flnd their ex pression through efficaent labor for livlihood, the love of learnlng and the Willlhg service of humanity To the rural youth of the natlon who are seeking to prepare and to perfect themselves for service through the organization of Future Farmers of America, is addressed this motto as embodying the true vocational spirit 'Learning to o, Doing to learn, Earning to live, L Vlng to serve H Floyd Roberts THE FUTURE HOUEMAKERS OF AMERICA The Penn Townshlp Chapter of the F H A which was organized in 1954, has grown ln membershlp from four teen to thlrty three and prospects are brliht for an even larger and stronger club ln the future The pur pose of the club is to promote lnterest 1n Home Econ give the chapters an opportuxlty to contact those from other parts of the state Students thus learn ways of saving tlme, energy and money ln the home and provides a means of lntroduclng labor S3V1nF ldeas and devices into the most backward communities The state Future Homemakers ASSOClat1OU which was organized 1n 1953 now lncludcs one hundred chapters or one thlrd of all the Vocatlonal Home Economics Depart ments ln Ohlo Many states already have affiliated state organlzations and we Future Homemakers are look ing forward to a National organizatlon F H A PLEDGE We are Home Economics sisters tT1VlnQ to be better Homemakers both today and tomorrox We carry out the purpose of the Future Homemaker's ASSOC1dtlOH and we serve the association, the home, and the school to the best of our ability.
