A we With fervent gesticulation, Barb Myers proves her point in james Bar- rie's i'The Twelve Pound Look . The object of her discontent is Dave Chastain. Variety! That was the key word in dramatics at Penn High this year. Productions ranged from philosophic comedy to British satire and from modern humor and Americana to great Russian classics. The deep-rooted feelings of a society torn between two different philosophies are deftly portrayed by james Thurber in HThe lVIale Animalw. The dramatics group chose this play for their fall production and, combining the talents of David Chastain as Tommy Turner, Terry Harner as Ellen Turner, Gary Wolf as -Ioe Ferguson, Joy Bogan as Pat, Dennis Myers as Wally, Paul Hol- singer as Michael Barnes, Phil Goddard as Ed Keller, and Steve Glass as Dean Damon, they were extremely successful in getting their message across. The mid-semester play presented annually by the Thespians was performed before the school assembly once again this year. It was entitled Box and Coxw and was written in the early 1800's by john Maddison Morton. It was an early English situation comedy and was ably presented by .lim Evans as Mr. Box, Dennis Myers as Mr. Cox, and Carole Kleckner as Mrs. Boun- cer. An original introduction to the play was given by Phil Goddard. In keeping with the uvarietyi' theme the four spring plays were varied to the full extent of the word. The first play, i'The Dear Departed , by Stanley Houghton, was a satirical mystery. Carole Kleckner as Mrs. Slater, Connie Weiss as Mrs. jordan, Terry jordan as Henry Slater, Kevin Witwer as Ben Jordan, Barbara Wachowiak as Victoria Slater, and Douglas Sellon as Abel Merry- weather all helped to make it a success. Student director Chuck Biermann listens and watches carefully during rehearsal for the spring Thespian rendition, f'The Dear Departed . Us V. -1 ax: . wi, .
