Academic Encounter First and foremost, high school is an academic insti- tution with a primary mission to stretch the intellect and shape the mind. It is a place of questing, for seeking after knowledge, for exercising the individual's thought processes. In a civilization characterized by change, students must find metal and emotional stability in flexible cur- riculums. What high school means to a majority of our students may be nebulous but that academic excellence should be the ideal cannot be refuted. To paraphrase Forrest Kirkpatrick: A hzglz school is a singing stride Toward theportals ofmaturity, A way of lQ e, deeprooted as a ,bineg A cluster of ideals, courage and hope, Afear offuyillment, A lookingforward and looking back.
