Being a secretary can kecp anyone busy and Mrs. Witwer is no ex- ception. Summer was busy, busy for PHS students. Academical- ly, summer started with Girls, State and Boys' State. Seven seniors were honored with a trip to Indiana Uni- versity to study our state government. Summer school, jobs, camp counseling, 4-H, band rehearsals, chamber choir rehearsals, cheerleader practice, and various sports kept many students bustling. Of course, the summer wasn't all work and no play. Swimming in the old St. Joe, skiing, softball, baseball, dances, and vacations dominated the Hlighterl' side of life. '4Watch out for the wildman! 3, These cries were familiar to fair-goers passing the Bittersweet booth. For the first time in our school's history, Penn's publications de- partment operated a booth at the 4-H fair. The Bitter- sweet House of Mystery was created by seniors Dan Gardner and Steve Kelley. The Hwildmanw who was billed as coming from deepest, darkest Africa strangely re- sembled Steve Kelley. On the other side of the wildman,s cage was a vast gallery of puns. Excited viewers peered through the peep hole labeled Elizabeth Taylor only to find a lizard tayloring a suit. Red Buttons was also at our booth but in the person of three red buttons. The aboved mentioned werejust a few of the celebrities', that appeared at the Bittersweet House of Mystery. The pur- pose of the House of Mystery was to raise money and sell subscriptions to the Bittersweet. Enjoying a morning of reading on the lawn is the honor history class. A summer scene of construction changes the appearance of the Penn campus.
