Career groups include the Future Nurses, Future Business Leaders, Future Homemakers, Future Farmers, and Future Teachers. For girls interested in athletics and physical Fitness the Girls Athletic Association is a must. Nirnble minds and lingers Find an outlet in the Chess Club. Several clubs in the program have an honorary status, in- cluding the Thespians, the National Honor Society, the Quill and Scroll. Most active interscholastically is the highly successful Perm Debate Club. Mwwidag Kimgsmew as F-lalbtiww ' I The Penn band opened the '64-'65 music season on September 2, t the Tournament of Bands at Riverview Amusement Park, Chr- a cago. In October they escorted our American Field Service stu- dents in the United Nations Day parade. Pennettes and musicians raised the band to 117 strong. Marchers ' ' lf ' la in swing down Memory Lane at the Homecoming Ha time p y g outstanding numbers from the bandis last four years. These ranged from the Twist, the Birth of the Blues, and the perky Never on Sunday to the optimistic Everything's Corning Up Roses. The b d l traveled to School Field for the Riley game where Pen an aso nettes brandished their umbrellas as the band played Sjepteribler ' ' ' ' - 1 - ' e in the Rain. The band followed this with the gay, No ace 1 Home show tune, Camelot. Though somewhat smaller than the marching band, the pep band lived up to its name at pep sessions and basketball games. The annual Winter Concert was held january 17. The public was also entertained at the April 4 Spring Concert, which featured Jim Evans, soloist, singing selections from the Broadway hit, My Fair Lady. The 65 freshmen in the cadet band competed in a contest at South Whitley on April 3, One week later the concert band competed at Angola, Indiana. The band closed the season in the same style with which they opened it-a parade-on Memorial Day.
