The game ended in a 12-7 victory for the hard charging Kingsmen, thus avenging a loss to the Vikings two years ago. The next two weeks of the season found the Meyer- men on the road. A trek to Riley and School Field ended in a saddening 40-O loss, but Plymouth proved more hospitable in a 19--0 Penn victory. Fort Wayne Central then spoiled the Homecoming festivities in our second home contest as they passed their way to a 19-0 win over our Kingsmen. Huntington fullback Clark Reeves finds a solid wall of Kingsmen as he is thrown for a twelve yard loss. In the fall a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of football. So it came as no surprise to Penn fans to see 22 year old Ronald Meyer, former defensive backfield coach at Purdue, running along the sidelines in his shirtsleeves in freezing weather, advising and hollering encouragement to his players. Whether he ever froze out there is not known. However, it is known that his team didn't. They were nhot' most of the time in com- piling a 5-4-1 record against some of the toughest teams in the state. Heading Meyer's squad through this profitable year were co-captains Phil Hakes and Larry Hough. The season was capped by the naming of senior Don Green- ing as MVP and Dave Risner, a junior, Most Im- proved Player at the Fall Sports Banquet.
