WA lWPw6'lH In due regard for the theme of teaching career month 1965, the academic profile becomes The Changing Face of Teachingw. Change has become an irritating- ly important word. Change is inherent in the re- quirements, opportunities, and facilities of our school. Team teachers invaded the lab, and biology classes became accustomed to this current technique. The vocational department added a new class in an up- to-the moment phase of welding. The student coun- cil sponsored the new ghonor, study halls, the guid- ance department was enlarged to meet growing guidance needs, and even in the gym, change was apparent as permanent Penn-Booster seating be- came physically evident for the first time. Even new school bus additions have changed that long yellow look.

Academics play the major role and other extracurricular activities of the school and the community make the flame of knowledge burn a little brighter. Football games, cheering on our team, school plays, and convocations all Ht into the big picture of our school life. Laughter and learning went hand in hand to develop a new kind of Penn student. A student who is ready to enter the world around him.

WVe gave oral and written reports on the writings of Benjamin Franklin and his colonial contemporaries. With our fellow students as critics we fought back stage fright and made our first speeches unforgettable sophomoric moments. We learned to write fluently, had understandable concern for dangling participles, run-on sentences, adn the many rules of grammar. With college plans already on the drawing board we renewed our efforts in vocabulary drills, made friends of the dictionary, and found a home away from home in the library.
