'Twas three weeks before Christmas and all through the school, every student was scurrying . . . Clement Moore's yuletide poem might thus be rewritten to describe the Hurry of pre-Christmas activities at Penn. The Latin, German, French clubs each attended the 'Christmas in Other Lands programs at Chicagois Museum of Science and Industry. Future Hornemakers added to the holiday atmosphere by depicting a cozy Christmas hearth via of the department showcase. The Art Club contributed to the mood by selling hand painted Christmas cards of original design. Eatin together has a way of uniting a group, as the Pre-Engineers S found at their annual breakfast. The choirs, Christmas gift to the public included a presentation by the new Chamber Choir. The . v , V I Concert Choir was led by Nfr, Lamar Holaway, Penns new chora director. The social highlight of the season was the Christmas Ball, this entitled Alpine Enchantment , organized by Y-teens. Above all, Christmas is a time for giving. Sarajane Smith was honored for her outstanding work in the TB League by being chosen Queen. The entire school contributed to the food basket sponsored by the Junior Boosters, The German Club sold popcorn balls and the Fu- ture Nurses sold Christmas wreaths to help support a foreign orphan each club has adopted. There's a song in the air . . . The Chamber Choir and director Holaway made many public appearances during the holiday season. Senior Linda Mumby, choir accompanist, prac- tices for the Christmas concert. The spirit of Christmas!Miss Goebel and Future Nurses Mar- garet O3Neal and Brenda Blade add to the holiday cheer of a foreign oprhan with their wreath making project.
