he South Pacyic l The idea of creating a South Pacific island in the mid- dle of the gym floor completely fascinated the Senior Class. With the theme South Pacific firmly implanted in their minds, co-chairmen jay Watland and Marlene Brones got things rolling. They planned our committees and helped create an enthusiastic group of workers. After many hours of hard work, the gym was thor- oughly renovated into an enchanted island complete with a volcano, a grass hut, a waterfall and deserted beach scene, a tropical island swing, and a small island cafe. Everything was set for the dance which was to take place the following evening. Saturday night couples crossed over an ivy entwined bridge into a world of music and dancing made possible by the Monte Friel Trio. Royalty, which had been an- nounced during decoration day, was again presented. King and Queen were Flip Blake and Shirley Dadisman. Other royalty included princes and princesses, Kit Northey and Vonda Fink, Jake Rice and Wendy Throck- morton, and Tim Bannon and Marlene Ketner. The evening was completed as couples once again crossed over the bridge, leaving behind an island world, but taking with them many fond memories. Senior Ball Royalty, jay and Marlene: co-chairmen.
