Team Maintained Champion Status 1968 BASKETBALL TEAM: Bottom Row: Ray Shindler, Tom Lester, Greg Garnett, Rick Squance, Nick jerkovich, Phil Serka, Mark Hoppen. Top Row: Roger Iverson Head Coach, Dave Leppanen, Pat Lyle, Al Ross, Bill Sehmel, Randy Buckell, jim Fisher Manager, Dick Tatton, Mgr. Players wait their turn anxiously watching the game. This yearis basketball Playeris were faced with a diHi- cult task of holding Peninsulais championship title. To make things more difiicult, the team did not have the confidence of the spectators nor their fellow students. However, regardless of this slow start in enthusiasm and spirit, this year,s team proved that they could win. Although the Seahawks didn't place first, their third place standing showed that they were working hard to hold the image previously set. With only two returning seniors, the juniors provided the backbone of the team in quantity as well as quality. Al Ross was the only senior in the starting five. juniors held the other four positions, they were: Greg Garnett, Tom Lester, Pat Lyle, and Bill Schemell. 65
