Qc pwwnobtorbeoutdow A winning tradition has been established at Peninsula that future Seamount basketballers will be hard-put to equal. Coach Roger lverson's Seahawks gained their second consecutive crown with 11-1 and 16-2 league and season records. Led by Marty Morin's outside and Dwight Stephen's inside shooting, Peninsula won its first six contests, lost two ofthe next four, then finished the regular season with eight straight victories to edge Mount Si, holder of a 10-2 league record, for the crown. The Seahawks only loss in league play was a 60-48 decision at the hands of Mount Si. ln a post-season playoff game Peninsula was eliminated from the class AA title picture, losing to Evergreen of Vancouver. 66-49. Morin led Peninsula scorers with a 17.6 average, Joe Newman led rebounders with 201, Al Ross paced the field goal shooters with 51 per cent, and Doug Clark shot best from the free throw line, hitting 84 per cent. Morin also broke the league scoring record when he potted 47 in Peninsula's record setting 97-48 downing of Tahoma.
