h of senior rincess, Toni Sullivan. Band and Drill Team form a crown with a T inside in onor p as o u o Homecoming 1966 spelled success. Plenty of hard work under the direction of chairmen Margaret Reed and John Mc- Donell, Girl's and Boy's Club Presidents, resulted in a day of fun and excitement for everyone. Thursday night, a monstrous bonfire was built by the football players. A few of them spent the entire night guarding it from intruders. Ravenous Gordie Dobson proved to be hungry as he de- voured the most hot dogs at the afternoon assembly. Alan Ross seemed to be the winner until hot dogs were found in his pock- ets. The band and drill team, under the direction of head major- ette, Louise Cruver, led the Homecoming parade through Gig Harbor. Decorated cars carrying the royalty followed. Excitement grew as the football game with White River be- gan that night. The first half kept the crowd in thrilled suspense as the Seahawks edged forward in the score, 10 to O. During half time, band and drill team formed a crown and the initials of each Homecoming princess as the royalty passed the crowd, Then, as the team was cheered back onto the field, Cap- tain Tom Thrall led the players through a funnel made by the band and drill team and through a huge paper victory sign 12 feet high, held by the cheerleaders. The game ended in a Seahawk victory, with a score of 17 to O, Peninsula's first Homecoming victory in two years. Following the game, was the big Homecoming dance. The evening's highlight was the crowning of the royalty: Freshmen Sue Edwards and Terry Hauser. Sophomores Darlene Elford and Greg Garnett, Juniors Donna Waterland and .lim Wright. and Seniors Toni Sullivan and Dan Ross. Chosen as queen and king were Penni Strickland and Tom Thrall. A royalty dance followed the crowning and the couples danced slowly to the music ofthe Noblemen. As the last song was played, Homecoming was brought to a close. The day was over and Homecoming was indeed a success. wuolfei BACK ROW: Greg Garnett and Sue EdwardsT : Darlene Elford SECOND ROW: Donna Waterland FRONT ROW: Toni Sulli- van, Tom Thrall and Penni Strickland.
