Glass 0Mcc'rs fo 'S President V Pres dent Secretary Secretary 5514101 611155 ffzsfnry It was an exciting day un September l945 when Z3 green inexperienced freshmen entered Vaughn and 42 entered Gug Harbor to depart four years later as well reserved quiet and dignified Seniors We were soon on to the hugh school ways and officers elected to carry us through the first year were Pres Ben Brones Vice Pres Gaul Olson Sec and Treas Chuck Lindner at Vaughn and at Gig Harbor Pres John Smuth and Vice Pres Dudley Stair The year passed quickly with the main event being the dreaded initiation Miss Stiers Our Sophomore year got off to a good start with Mr Luttle and Mr Daw son as our class advisors Thus year both Vaughn and Gig Harbor gurls won the unter class tournament Officers elected at Vaughn were Pres John Ross Vuce Pres Bonnie Shultz Sec Marge Rose and Treas Ray Smuth whule Gig Harbor officers were Pres Bull Guske Vuce Pres Alan Skarponu S c and Treas Evelyn Benson and Ser geant at Arms Donna Ford At Vaughn the Sophomores took part in the all school talent show Our Junuor year found Vaughn and Gig Harbor combined at Penunsula to make a bugger and better class At last we were upper classmen and happy in the knowledge that loafing was a very profitable form of spending our time We chose as class leaders Pres John Smith Vuce Pres Milton Mitchell Sec Gaul Olson and Treas John Jerkovich Our advisor was Miss Lamison o Hardie was chosen vuce president of th student body Wanting to be different this class gave four one act plays called The Feed Store Mystery Richman Poorman The Blue Teapot and The Courtship of Mules Standish directed by Mrs Bouvua On May l4 we gave the Junuor Prom our first bug dance with the theme as Mississippi Moon Nancy Neill and John Jerkovuch were chosen as Kung and Queen Gaul Olson was chosen to attend Girls State and Bob Hardie and John Smuth to atten'l Boys State Now we fund the Class of 49 budding farewell to Peninsula Hugh School, In our final year we chose Evelyn Benson as Presb Joyce Whitright as Sect Peggy Lund as Treas., and Gary Irvin as Vice Pres., to carry us through our busy year, The student body was composed of all Seniors this year. Dudley Stair was elected as Boys' Club Pres.: Betty Starkey as Girls' Club Pres.: John Smith as l.ettermen's Pres.: Marge Rose as Pep Club Pres.: Bonnie Shultz as G.A.A.: Eve- lyn Benson as Editor of Kwahaes, and Nancy Neill as Editor of the Outlook, Nancy Neill Gail Olson, Betty Starkey and Peggy Lund were voted cheer leaders. On November l9 we gave our Senior Ball with Autumn Harvest as the theme. On April 8, we presented our Senior play, The Hoosier Schoolmaster which proved to be a big success. The play was directed by Mrs. Jannach, The Senior boys won the interclass-basketball tournament this year. This year the Seahawks won the League Football Championship with the help of the Senior boys who were very active in sports. Bob Hardie and Dudley Stair made all-county team while John Jerkovich and Chuck Lindner made the second team. 4 1 1 , W? ' .wif .
