Moore, A. Hetrick, P. Pawluk, T. Schlieman. CLASS HISTORY Four years ago the class of '50 entered high school as verdant Freshmen, very green, but eager to do right. We got off to a good start with Mrs. Hungerford as our advisor, and some of the highlights of the year were a Valentine's party held inthe school gym and a Freshman Hayride. In our Sophomore year, headed by Miss Schenk, we carried on two big projects - a gala Christmas party and the traditional Soph Hop. An innovation in the line of Soph Hops, ours had round and square dancing, and was a big success. Among our many pleasant memories, our Iunior year is outstanding. Under the guidance of Mr. Neely, we staged the smash hit, Ever Since Eve. This and our junior Prom, 'Paradise Islandf, helped us earn money for our Senior trip, and work on the Inkslinger, the school paper, filled up any spare moments we might have had. By far the most important year was our Senior year, when all thoughts were of our trip to Washington. Various projects helped us finance this trip: among them was the sale of candy, pop, and school supplies. Guided by Mr. Peck, we produced another outstanding play, 'Iune Mad. This hit and the junction, our yearbook, rounded out four full years of activity. Now it is time for us to leave the halls of Penfield Central and venture forth into the wide, wide world. Our last wish is one for happiness and the best of luck to every- one at Penfield. 19 CLASS PROPHECY THE YEAR IS 1960 As we walk mto the gala lounge of the Pel1can Club, formerly Rusty s we are greeted by the proprletor, D1ck Heckman D1ck IS well known 1n the mght club busmess as one of the most success ful club owners 1n Un1on H111 D1ck modestly tells us that h1s reputat1on would be noth1ng w1th the del1c1ous food cooked by h1s eff1c1ent k1tchen staff, composed of Mary Westerman, 1.015 WIICOX, Nancy Barmaster, and V1rg1n1a Bennet D1ck h1red these grrls upon the suggest1on of Mrs Spence, head of the Homemakmg department at Penf1eld Central They rece1ved excellent references from her because of the experlence they gamed 111 Homemak1ng A to Z m h1gh school just as we seat ourselves at our table, two lovely young waltresses rush over to take our order Why, lt s Ada M1ller and Mary lean Salmon They tell us they l1ked work1ng at DeRyke s so much that they de c1ded to keep on w1th the work Wh1le wa1t1ng for our order, let s look around at the other couples enjoylng the hosp1tal1ty Over at a corner table we see Pat and Carl they re Mr and Mrs now, accord1ng to the latest soc1ety news And there IS that famous surgeon, Dr Albert D Koehler, takmg an evemng off from hlS pressmg dut1es at the hosp1tal to spend some t1me w1th h1s pretty nurse, Ioan Koester Albert, or Dave, as he was known ten years ago has really come up 1n the world, havmg stud1ed under famous surgeons all over the world Well, It seems we arrived Just 1n t1me for the floor show Here s Ronme Sands, that popular M C to mtroduce ton1te s show Ronn1e got plenty of practice g1v1ng lmeups at Penf1eld s basketball games way back when MUSIC for ton1te IS furmshed by Rog Moore and h1S Mus1cally Handlcapped Featured 1n th1S popular orchestra are W1lbur Wolfe on the p1ano, Don Stevenson on the v1olm, Ralph Van Thof on the drums, and Rog hlmself on the trombone All these boys got the1r starts at Penf1eld 1n the band or orchestra, except W1lbur, who IS takmg t1me off from h1s work on the farm to make a Sp6C12.1 appearance ton1te Al ready he IS be1ng named another Carle, wh11e Ralph IS hkened to Gene Krupa, Rog to Tommey Dorsey, and Don to Yehud1 h1mself All th1s and good food too' Ronme IS announcmg the f1rst number m the show a few numbers by Dlamond 11m Thompson, known to most of us as lay He has gamed a large follow1ng 1n rad1o and telev1s1on, and 1ntends to go west next summer to beg1n h1s f1rst p1cture After jay s number we are pr1v1leged to hear the Dolly S1sters, Norma de Roos a.nd Barb jones, 1n a song and dance routme The g1rls got the1r start ten years ago 1n a vaudev1lle act, and have been perform1ng together ever smce Last on the program for now IS that popular crooner, Bob Ockenden the greatest thmg smce Frank Smatra Bob has been makmg glrls swoon ever smce the war days when he wowed em with 'I m a Yankee Doodle Dandy What s that commotlon over m the corner?
