The present site of Trechter Stadium was once just a big hole in the ground. However, in 1944 when construc- tion of the new high school began, the top of the hill on which Central now sits was grated 05 and used to fill in the deep hole. The long, red brick building was completed in 1953. It was U5 of a mile long and located on a site of 46 acres. The cost of constructing Central High School was over hve million dollars. The first students of Central en- tered'het doors in September of 1955. Their principal was C. 0. Tower, a beloved and devoted principal who retired last year. CentraPs gymnasium was completed in January of 1954, and the auditorium a little later that year. For three years, our school had a junior high school. It was here temporarily until the completion of Heinold Junior High School. In 1960, Central again became a senior high school. Our school building has been in exis'rence for +en years, which is relaHvely young for a schooL There is a long 'Fu- +ure ahead for Cenfral.
