In the :tFahulous Fifties.H on an ordinary school day, you perhaps would have found rushing through the crowded halls, a girl in a plain sweater, not the least bit bulky, wearing the popular silk scarf around her neck, a long. full skirt supported by four or hve petticoatst and big heavy socks with oxfords. After school there were always club meet- ings to attend. One of these was the Rifle Club, where you might discover the typical American boy wearing a bright plaid shirt, loose htting trousers, and heaVyt round-toed shoes. Other clubs which also developed through the years were the Bowling League, the Riding Club, Junior Council on World Affairs, Y-Teens, and Cendra. Often after school there were sock hops where the jitterhug and hunnyhop were danced to the c001,, music of the band. At a Central football game in those days, you would have found boy cheerleaders as well as girl cheerleaders. Now the girls have taken over. As a result there are more and more boys attending the games. The pace 511' which we presently live is wra5+er +han if was only five years ago. The average school girl presenfs quife a differemL picfure. Skirfs have shorfened. hairdo's have gone up. and +he heavy wool socks have been freded in for nylons. AHer-school hops no longer have band music 13qu +he records the kids will go home and lisfen +0 repeatedly on +heir fransisfor radios. Many of +he +hings we enjoyed will soon be ou+- da+ed. Bu1L +his is +he price of progress and living in wha+ is becoming each day a more civil'xzed world. nectar
