.: 'A-n'rL -. -r..- t:.-. WE BUILD LASTING FRIENDSHIPS . i There is another part of our life which must be presented to give a complete picture. For we do not neglect the social side. Activities of many kinds are constantly in progress at Central. Sir Lancelot probably relied on trumpet fanfares to know what was going on in his day, but our castle is equipped with a public address system that can be heard in the highest tower. It daily calls students. to meetings of the various clubs and organizations, and it announces tsometimes t0 musict the important coming events. The Sweetheart Contest, the Sweetheart Dance, the Package Plan Bonuses, the Senior Prom, the functions of the various social clubs-uall of these attractions make Central a happy, as well as a busy place. There is much fun to be had in band, choir, Cendra, and on the staffs of the KNIGHT LIFE and the PENDULUM. These activities make our days brighter and, in the long run, our lives richer.

WE DEDICATE THE 1958 The members of 16 PENDULUM staff wish to dedicate these pages to a teacher who as supervised the publication of many hundreds of arm Ipagcs over a period of fifteen years. Mr. R. Owen Sofko has ten the adviser for both annual and newspaper, som -mes serving both at the same time. Beginning with a imeographed annual at the original Central High in 1941, Mr ofko has guided the PENDULUM to the highest level of at a inmcnt with the $54, 355, and 356 editions. A11 won distinctive ho ors in national judging contests. Even after retiring as adviso he has continued to make valuable contributions to t . PENDULUM. Owcn Sofko 011 nized the Louis Bromficld Chapter of Quill and Scroll and ser d as its adviser. H6 established the Swedheart Come and Sweetheart Dance which have come to bc traditional 0 nts of great interest for Ccntralitcs. His devotion to standa s of yearbook excellence and his inspiring leadership with ma y annual staffs lead us to dedicate the 1958 PENDULUM t. r. R. Owen Sofko.
