THE BIG WHEELS Each Spring, elections are held for the Stu- dent Body Officers who will take the reins the following school year. In order to win a nom- ination for an office, the nominee must he a leader in school activities and a person who is well liked by his fellow students. We feel that the officers which we have had this year, live up to those qualifications and have done their respective jobs very well. At right, are the Student Body Officers who have made our school what is it. Senior, Dave Pahl, served as President, Kent Hughes, a jun- ior, was First Vice-Presidentg Cindy Simpson, a member of the senior class, served as Secretaryg another senior, Jerry DeBorde, as Business Manager, and sophomore, Roger Rothrock, as Second Vice-President. f eff 65,3 gy, ,nr f-' Ms .. For the first time in recent years we got past the quarter- finals and into the semi-finals. When we met Marshfield they were heavy favorites to go all the way to a third straight Oregon High School Football Championship . Pendleton met them on a cold, foggy, and wind-blown day. Marshfield rolled over us in what they termed as their second toughest game of the season. The boys who played that day will remember into eternity what it was like out there. Pendleton was indeed proud of their stalwarts of the gridiron during the 1956 football season. The football managers are fleftb Al- len McKee, Bob Larsen, and Bill Dona- hue. Allcn and Bill were in charge of of the field house. Bob's job was to make sure that the players had game jerseys and clean towels. All of the managers. are to be complemented on the fine job that they had done. Allen and Bill .will be back next year to re. sume their duties. KEITH JELLUNI. BASKETBALL Chet Schiewe, who has capably coached the Baby Bucks for many years, has proved to be a great asset in preparing the younger boys for varsity duty. Mr. Schiewe's 1956-57 team should show much promise in the next couple of years. He is liked by all the students that come in contact with him whether as vice-principal or as coach of the Baby Bucks. Keep on bringing the boys along as you have this year. We are all backing you. coach! For the second straight year Pendleton has gone to the state tournament under the watchful eyes of coach Dale Warberg. He came here last year and led us to an eighth place in the tournament. The 1956-57 year proved to be one of the best in the annals of PHS by advancing one place and getting a seventh place this year. Coach Warberg. who is a graduate of Eugene High School and the University of Oregon, came to us from John Day where he compiled a very good record. Wfe look forward to having Mr. Warberg here next year and the many years thereafter. Keep up the good work. coach! W'e're with you always. .--.-Qi.. - ....h............. ,-- '? O ,, , e Co Ginger, Co!!! ALL-SCHOOL PLAY The All-School play, Time Out for Ginger, was a comedy success In it, a father is given to sounding off on the right of the young to lead their own lives, and is momentarily alarmed to find'that his youngest wants to play football on the high-school team. The alarm doesn't last long though, before the idea begins to delight him, because he had never had a son he wanted. This leads to scenes in which the high-school prin- cipal, the president of the father's bank and various other members of the family become involved in furious debate over the pros and cons of permitting girls to don helmets and shoulder-pads.
