In these pages an American Story is told in relation to a unit of time-a year of fast moving moments each leading on towards one of the most important events in the life of young Americans. As a mirror, this year reflects the nation, becomes part of the nation - light and vigorous with the colours of the new day. The settings may differ and may cast the colours of the things around, but the char- acters are universal. Tall mountains, ridges and hills do not hide the sky. They either bring it down to us or make it possible to move higher to where it is closer to usg the future will be less of the earth and more of the sky with its dawns and sunsets multiplied. It is a wonderful story as told by these fleeting moments which will soon be rele- gated to the realm of memory-a generous and clean story of the enchanting and opti- mistic dreams of Man. 1Upper leftl The coal pile at the back of the school seems out of place in the warm fall sun. fAboveb The west entrance has lots of parking space until the gravel trucks catch up on the south hill. ,f QUpper right! Early in November a blanket of snow softens the lines of the old pile on the hill. lAbovej The cheerfulness with which the S0pllF face the daily climb is always of interest to the upperclassmen.
