Band has a membership of 41 stu- dents-one senior, thirteen iuniors, ten sopho- mores, seven freshmen, five eighth grade, and five seventh grade students. The band was placed in first division in the State Marching Contest, and participated in the Fair Parade and the State Moose Convention parade at Muncie. The band is under the direction of Mr. James Patchett. Sometimes the weather is cold in the gym, but . the band practices on. N-.f HI-Y The Hi-Y Club of Pendleton High School is com- posed of boys in grades ten, eleven, and twelve interested in extending throughout the school and community high standards of Christian char- acter. FUTURE F RMERS O AMERICA The Future Farmers of America is a national organization of farm boys who are enrolled in Vocational Agriculture. The primary purpose of this organization is the development of agricul- tural leadership, cooperation, and citizenship. The colors of the organization are National Blue and Corn Gold, and the motto is: Learning to do, Doing to learn, Earning to live, Living to serve. ln our local chapter there are twenty-one active members. DR MATIC CLUB The Dramatic Club is composed of iuniors and seniors interested in dramatics. At present there are titty-four mem- bers. The purpose of this club is to learn the fundamentals of good acting. In the spring the Dramatic Club usually presents three one-act plays for the public. The Pendleton 4-H Agriculture Club had an enrollment of fifty-nine members in 1953. Of this Q W membership forty-eight exhibited l84 agricultural -- proiects at the Madison County A-H Fair at Alex- andria. Seven members showed livestock at the Muncie Fair, and nine livestock exhibitors placed at the Indiana State Fair. At the Madison County Grain Show, forty-one entries were made. Tommy Rogers had the high A-H yield in Madison County, and Edgar Lucas, a P.H.S. alumnus, had the high Junior Five Acre Corn Club yield.
