Glam Paopfzecq Pendlefon, Indiana June 2, l954 Dear David, The firsf reunion of fhe Class of I944 is over. Since your recenf misforfune made if impossible for you fo affend, we kepf a record of every- one's business and posifion in life because we knew you would be inferesfed. Nexf fime we hope you may be wifh us, so don'f fry fo fake fhe Hunfsville curve af 70 miles per hour. We mef ai' 'the quief counfry home of Mr. and Mrs. K Charles Soufhard. Mrs. Soufhard is fhe former Jeanne Hoffman, who finally landed one of fhose handsome seniors back in '44, You will be glad fo know fhaf four of your former schoolmafes are now Powers' models. They are Miss Virginia Brighf, Miss Virginia Sfan- ley, Miss Phyllis Mobley, and Miss Frances More- land. Gene Sfanley kepf looking af fhem and saying, Bah, women Bah, women! Can any- one gef me a dafe? This, we know, will asfonish you when we fell you fhaf Roberf Crull is now fhe Frank Sinafra of I954, and could hardly break away from a crowd of girls who consfanfly pursue him. We fhoughf surely he was fhe one who had made fhe greafesf change, buf nof af all. We heard a loud commofion, and rushed ouf lo see parf of fhe Barnum and Bailey Circus coming foward fhe house. Lafer we mef William Mar- fin, fhe fhin man, Rudell Emery fhe lion lamer, Dale Kelly, fhe daredevil of fhe show, Miss Wilma lsfick-onl Lewis, fhe bareback rider, and lasf buf nof 'rhe Ieasf, Miss Wanda Graham as fhe barker for fhe Pygmy Show. Richard Dickey, who is now employed as bouncer af fhe Sfork Club in New York, ar- rived in full array, driving one of fhe Iafesf model plasfic cars. Dorofhy Iln fhe Moneyl Dillenbeck, who is now handling Morgen+hau's money, was presenf, and affired in furs and iewels. She mus+ be a favorife. She's probably spending some of fhose I944 faxes fhaf Morganfhau collecfed. The owners and managers of fhe new nighf club in Hunfsville, The Wooden Shoe, were fhere, and need I say fhaf fhey were Eunice Hilligoss and Beffy Holland? Their vocalisf and enferfainer af fhe esfablishmenf is Mr. William IRob fhe cradlel Humble, who, if is rumored, has recenfly robbed his lasf cradle, since his mar- riage fo fhe famous Baby Sandy, who has now grown info a very affracfive young girl. Our nexf surprise was fo learn fhal' Lavonne Palmer is now a iockey on Seabiscuif V, and has recenfly won fhe cup for being fhe mosf graceful iockey of fhe year. Her privafe secre- fary, Mr. Leonard Leslie, was wifh her and she confinually bossed him around. Lafer he gof really mad and bossed her: however, he didn'f lose his job. Beffy McCurdy has made quife a name for herself as edifor of fhe Kafy Keepum KoIumn. Her advice fo fhe lovelorn is heeded by greaf numbers of women. We all, of course, were eager,fo find oul' how 'lhe presidenf of our class, Mr. Dale Michael, had progressed. He is now playing pro baskef- ball wifh fhe lnferna-lional Aircraff Associafion. Our lunch was served by fhe chef of 'lhe old 33 Club af Anderson, and was none ofher fhan fhaf old classmafe Johnny lScorch 'eml Morf. He has gained acclaim for his famous Cream Puff. Mrs. Roberf Green lfhe former Helen Parkerl flew in, pilofing a P-38, and we were amazed when we noficed an absence of some more feefh. Of course, we never asked how fhey gof misplaced, so we are sfill wondering??77 The one and only genuine farmer arrived in overalls. This was Paul Seal. As I say, Once a farmer always a farmer. Frances Peek, who is now a feacher of mafh in fhe Ingalls new high school, surprised us by having curls on fhe fop of her head. Time changes everyfhing. Anofher class chum has iusf recenfly arrived in fhe U. S. from abroad. He has been hunf- ing bunnies in Africa and fells of his experience of shoofing 2I in one day. Who could do fhis buf Wayne ScoH7?? Mrs. Keifh McNaff Ifhe former Anne Shaull drove up in an old '4I Chevrolef. She seems fo have Iosf a few pounds. Tofal esfimafed weighf now IO6 pounds. Calvin Reichenbach sfood around felling fhose corny jokes fhaf he wrifes for Edgar Ber- gen and Charlie McCarfhy. The greaf surgeon, George ICuf 'em upl Un- derwood, broughf wifh him a pafienf whom he said he had fo keep a close wafch on. We didn'f doubf him a bif. Woo! Wool The Arfhur Murray Trio, John Ward, Norma Shelfon, and Jean Woofen, who are now fa- mous for fheir new dance, fhe Juggle Jump, arrived in fhe lafesf iiggle iumpers, which are boys' frousers fo knees and girls' dresses fo ankles. Jusf as we were geffing ready fo leave, who should arrive buf Herschel Blakely pushing his Buick. Beffer lafe fhan never. We regref 'lhaf besides you fhere were fwo ofher members of fhe class unable fo be pres- enf. If seems fhaf Norma Smifh rushed fo California in fhe gold rush of I949 and was hooked by a fellow prospecfor. Juanifa Vance, who followed her fwo years lafer, is sfill digging. I believe I have given you a full accounf of your dear old schoolmafes. We missed you a lof, and hope you will survive fhe Shock, David, of some of fhese careers and vocafions. WM
