In October, the Class went to Chand1er's Wharf and the State Ports Authority. At Christ- mas time, they enjoyed a trip to the Royal Governor's Home, Tryon Palace, in New Bern. During March, the Fifth Grade traveled to Raleigh, the state capital, and toured the Museum of Natural His- tory, the Capitol Building, the Mu- r e.se K ,gm ...e i K X S X my Q if if 1. seum of History, and the Gover- nor's Mansion. The Class sponsored the Ring Toss Booth for the Harvest Festival, and made cross-stitched ornaments and candles to sell at the craft table. Brad Baker and Jennifer Medlin were chosen King and Queen of the Harvest Festival for raising the most money in that category. These activities during the year really ad- ded to their overall enjoyment of the Fifth Grade. Brad Baker joel Barden Andrea Brown Melinda Dixon jodi Ealcins eea. W etae ..e e t., , A , ' . . Carla Schutt Sandy Shingleton Stan Rogers Karla Rothman Trent Talbert SEVENTH GRADE The Seventh Grade had a good start this year. They were busy sell- ing candy and having bake sales to earn money for their Senior Class trip. In N.C. History Class, they worked on projects representing early N.C. colonial life, keeping them on display for students and parents to see. The Class took the Historic Wil- mington Walking Tour. Hobbies were discussed with each student bringing his or her own hobby to school. They learned how to spin wool into thread and were amazed by Anthony Medlin's feats of magic. The hobbies dis- played were informative and educa- tional. A school newspaper, Raider Rap, was published by Carla Schutt, Tammy Lea, Karla Roth- man, Terri Cvadow, Sandy Shingle- ton, and Tina Turner as a class pro- ject. To quote a student, We're bril- liant, we're fine, we're the Class of '89. Class Officers: Carla Schutt, Secretary-Treasurer, Stan Rogers, SGA Representativeg Anthony Medlin, President, Vaugn Cowan, Vice-President. Not Pictured: Sandy Shingleton, SGA Representative.
