They opened up the season with a close loss to Harrell's Christian Academy 23-22. Later, the J r. High Girls lost to Cape Fear Christian Academy and Cape Fear Academy with a score of 22-7. Due to an injury, starter Wendy Fletcher was replaced by Nancy White. The girls suffered losses to CFA 22-20 and to HCA 30-13. The season may have been disappoint- ing, but the girls' experience will help them next year. Wendy Fletcher looks for an aggressive pass in a game against Harrells. - First Row: Harry Owens, Stan Rogers, Russell Ashley, Second Row: Coach Ricky Bailey, Brad Knight, Anthony Medlin, Vaughn Cowan, Shep Richardson, Trent Talbert, Coach Hamp Rivenbark. The Junior High Boys' Basketball Team's season may not have been perfect, but it was good experience for eight young players. These boys showed a great interest in, and desire for playing the sport. Sophomores Hamp Rivenbark and Ricky Bailey did an excellent job in coaching the team. The boys finished their season by winning one out of seven games.

J V CHEERLEADERS The LV. Cheerleaders had a busy year. The girls cheered for the Jr. High Girls, Jr. High Boys, J.V. Boys, and some of the Varsity Girls games. Even though there were only seven Cheerleaders, they showed a great deal of enthusiasm and school spirit. The J.V.'s made doo-dads for the players and hung posters in the gym. They cheered at the Homecoming game, which was a new and exciting ex- perience for some of the girls. Mrs. Schutt, their advisor, treat- ed them to a Christmas party at the Pizza Hut . Cheering carries a big responsi- bility but it is worth all the hard work and long hours, Cause we love it ! j.V. Cheerleaders: Lynn Wolfe, Betha Knight, Kathy Lucas, Dana Whisnant, Christy Barden, Wendy Fletcher, Cori Lea Carmichael. During the Homecoming Came, Dana Whisnant and Wendy Fletcher motivate the crowd. Chief Cori Lea Carmichael and Co-Chief Lynn Wolfe led the J.V.'s during 1983-84.
