Each one has been trained in his own field and brought here to teach — to pass on their knowledge to others. Each day on this campus brings a new challenge to these dedicated people. Over two thousand attend this regional university every semester — each expecting and receiving the best in educational train- ing. The faculty of Pembroke — all working together to help others work together . . . and asking themselves: Where will I be tomorrow? As president of the Queens College Alumnae Association and a member of the Board of Trustees of Queens College, she was presented with the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award from Queens College in 1957. Although active for many years in various civic and historical organizations, her special interest lay in Crossnore School in the Blue Ridge Mountains where she aided the underpriviledged children in the mountain area. She was also interested in Presbyterian Home for Children in Barium Springs, and for many years she remained a member of the Board of Trustees of Alexander Home of Charlotte. Among her numerous historical organizations were included the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Colonists. She was also a member of the Daughters of 1812, Daughters of Colonial Wars, Barons of Runnemede, Order of Crown, Colonial Dames of America, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Mecklenburg Historical Society, Tryon Palace Commission Board of Trustees and National Officers Club, N.S.D.A.R. At the offical ceremony, a portrait was presented of Mrs. William Henry Belk which now hangs in the lobby of Mary Irwin Belk Hall, a reminder to all of her vast achievements. 220 I I 1 I Jl 222 PSU . . . 223 PSU . mum mi UWIVEBSITY ir; ' ™ ' - foytifi ita7 - SSSQB ' nmnmn PSU . . . 226 Parking 227 PSU . . . m V ■« r . - y- BJ BC i - M 4 1 ' ■ fc ■ Si -• ' IHii H mM ' m m ■P V ZSra .J,S j V . Bird, Editor Through tears of tension and rehef, the final pages of the 1977 INDIANHEAD are prepared for publication, signaling the end of another academic year. Many long hours and a lot of overwork goes into the making of a yearbook, along with assistance from many people. The ' 77 staff would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Doris Johnson, our advisor, for keeping us organized; and to Jimmy Autry and Pam Bird for their help when it was surely most needed. A yearbook is a memory at your fingertips, that, even after 20 years, you can page through and remember and say, Yup, that wuz me! The 1977 INDIANHEAD staff would like to present to you a token of remembrance from days that will be most remembered. Theresa M. Bird, Editor 1977 INDIANHEAD Staff CIIV itUid ' mh- i ' r 1 1.
