Our own Student Government Association apparently was not to be outdone by the big leagues. The Coleman administration be- came involved in its own Watergate -like atmosphere as probing student senators fervently sought the what, why, and wheres on executive policy and expenditure. Our own version of the Washington Post, i.e. the Pine Needle , intimidated Colemanites at every turn, hoping to bring, as they saw it, reform to our gov- ernmental system. Undaunted, Coleman succeeded in introducing to Pembroke State University such innovations as mealtime music in the cafeteria, casual movie nights in the Student Center, and Student Government Association subsidized inebriations at par- ticipating fraternity houses. As in past years, the SCA was not the sole recipient of student wrath. Campus parking again ranked high on the list of student grievances, possibly being outdone only by the perennial student pain, SAGA food service. But this year our meal managers had their reasons. Decreasing student support and food prices were two commonly used explanations for the much criticized menus. ■ . . r. . o '

w 1974. Another year has elapsed in the life of the Pembroke State University student. Whether he is now to move on to a new life as a graduate or will be returning this fall for another bout with the Pembroke experience, we may all rest assured that the events of the past twelve months have done their share in the molding of that ingenious little creature we so casually refer to as the mind. And after all, isn ' t that what it ' s all about. The Watergate affair, Spiro ' s descent, Nixon ' s campaigh con- tributions and United States wheat sales, all seemed to substantiate the existence of a true credibility gap within our national politi- cal system. Mysterious erasures found on key Watergate tapes left our own inimitable Senator Sam Ervin and investigating com- mittee wondering as to how much our President did know about the Republican Party ' s shenanigans during the presidential reelec- tion campaign of ' 72. Spiro Agnew ' s manipulation of campaign contributions ultimately led to his resignation from the vice- presidency. V y : i
