On the northern end of the campus, construction began on the university ' s new auditorium Through out the year the burned-out shell of Old Main remamed where it has stood smce 1923 The building which once housed the first all-Indian College in the United States was seriously gutted by flames on March 19, 1973 following area Indian demonstrations. Old Main made newspaper headlines, was one of the top ten local news stories of the year, was visited by the gover- nor, and has received thousands of dollars for research into its rebuilding. In spite of it all the building ' s future remained shrouded in indecision

Ed Watkins The multi-faceted Human Service Center ' s director has dedicated himself to several student-oriented programs de- signed to provide opportunities for field work training in various aspects of educa- tional areas. Mr. Watkins ' coordination of Earth Day activities and work with Zero Population Growth has awakened much of the university to prominent social and ecological problems. Dr. Chang H. Cho Head of the Political Science Depart- ment since 1970, Dr. Cho has been inter- nationally known through his work with the Institute of Asian Studies in Washing- ton, D.C. and through his publications ranging from his editorship of the ASIAN FORUM and the Association of Korean Political Scientist Newsletter to the writ- ing of two books dealing with govern- ment and politics in foreign nations. Dr. Cho is presently serving as Executive- Secretary of the Association of Korean Political Scientists. 11
