A Time to Hate 13 Dedication Dr. Cecil Conley For the warm and sincere personality, friend- ship, and understanding possessed and shared by this beloved member of the Pembroke State College faculty, we of the Senior Class dedicate the 1966 INDIANHEAD to Dr. Cecil Conley. Teacher of the Year Mr. James Horton The talent of teaching is one to be cherished. It is for this reason that the Senior Class has chosen Mr. James Horton as Teacher of the Year. It has been his constant goal to broaden the minds of students in the area of Natural Science. 15 President English E. Jones 16 PEMBROKE STATE COLLEGE PEMBROKE, NORTH CAROLINA Office of [E PBESIDENT My Dear Friends: In every person ' s life there is ample season to grow into God ' s complete meaning for mankind - a time to be born and to grow into usefullness and service for humanity. For the college student, there is a time to study, to play, to develop, and to prepare himself for tomorrow. At the same time, he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor ... for it is from the hand of God ... for God giveth to a man that which is good in his sight - wisdom, knowledge, and joy. There is nothing better for all of us than that a man should rejoice in the excellency of his own works as he serves God and realizes that everything hath been made beautiful, just for him, in his own time. Indeed, to every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven: a time to plant, a time to harvest, a time to die, and moreover, a time to be born anew in the kingdom of God ' s bountiful world which he hath created for all of us . We have endeavored to collect into one body all facets of college life —academics, dorm life, dances, ballgames, club activities. Our college has grown exten- sively during the post year. Both girls and boys have entered into new housing facilities, new professors have joined the staff, many people have been met, and new friends made. This campus will never look this way again. Only the students of 1965-1966 will know Pembroke as we do. To the student at Pem- broke State College all the different views of college life will be remembered; not just the one memory of attending classes. Although, at times, it has been difficult to express in pictures what words can say, we hope that this edition of the Indianhead will be one that you, the reader, will always look upon with fond memories. FRANKIE REEVES, JR. When the evening shadows are falling And I am sitting all alone, Into my heart comes a longing If only you could come home. My heart is filled with sorrow, My eyes with tears; God only knows how much I Miss You. I wonder why you had to go and leave me here to weep, for many silent tears I shed While others are asleep. They saw you fading like a flower But could not make you stay; I cored for you with loving kindness Still the master took you away. God sow you were getting weaker The hill was hard to climb; He gently closed your loving Eyes and wispered peace be Thine The angels ore safely guarding A sacred and silent grave. For in it lies a precious one I loved but could not save. His love is a beautiful memory His absence is my silent grief He is asleep in God ' s beautiful garden In the sunshine of perfect peace.
