President ' s Message I find that the theme of the 1959 Indianhead , Through the Eyes of the Indianhead, is most conducive to both reflection and projection in these changing times. Not only does it raise the quantitatively oriented questions of Where have we been? and Where are we going? But in addition, in a mutilation of Shakespeare ' s comment upon puns , it could be said to raise the qualitative question of To what has , is , and will the Indianhead be willing to say its ayes ? The Indianhead is not only the College Yearbook; it is the symbol of the institution. If it were within my command to bring two characteristics to this symbolism , and thus to the institution for which it stands, my choices would be A love of all excellence, and An understanding of the nature of excellence. Pembroke State College will have reached academic maturity when all the members of its com- munity have developed the sensuous keenness and the emotional vigor to rigorously pursue these goals. Through the Eyes of the Indianhead, and through the eyes of each of us, may the inherent values soon be seen. -f Walter J. Gale President Pembroke State College
