President ' s Message A Golden Book of Memories should provide innumerable pleasures of reverie and reminiscence. That is as it should be. However, I charge you to concentrate on the future, while dwelling only fleetingly on the past. Too frequently man has stumbled on the path of progress while looking backward. Reflection on the past has a place in life when it is a sincere attempt to evaluate progress or to interpret the future; otherwise, however pleasant, it is time ill -spent. Throughout the coming years you will spend moments of leisure with this Golden Book of Memories. May you enjoy the reminiscence. Then, returning quickly to reality, may you profit again and again from those experiences pic- tured here. Live, work, and play purposefully each day, so that your Golden Years will be satisfying and rewarding. Only then will you warrant the unlimited pleasures of dreams and wishes; only then can you afford the extravagances of complete absorbtion with your Golden Book of Memories. Walter J. Gale President Pembroke State College
