Wedin came to Pem-Day originally in 1925 as a teacher, but it soon became apparent that his boundless energy would not permit him to confine himself to this single job. 1n 1927 he was appointed athletic director. ln his spare time he coached the football team and helped organize the Southside Midget League. He also put in the original lights on the foot- ball field, tooli charge of all physical education, and made field day into what it is today by starting the ribbon system. ln 1933 he was relieved of his post of athletic director, but then im- mediately became interested in the summer camp. Under his direction, the camp grew from thirty-four to two hundred and fifty boys. A recent survey shows that of the present enrollment 62 per cent of the boys attended Wedin's summer camp before attending Pem-Day. ln 1939 he took over the job of enroll- ment and in seventeen years the enrollment grew from one hundred and sixty to four hundred and fifteen boys. Also for fifteen of those years he was head of the middle school, and he has taught math for thirty-two years. He is remembered bv his former students as the man who gave them their foundation in mathematics, he is remembered by the school for his tre- mendous energy and work on enrollment, but most of all lie is remembered by everyone as a good friend and advisor.
