Before coming to Pem-Day, Mr. Kingman had been Dean of Nichols Junior College in Webster, Massachusetts and was associated with the Bancroft School in Worcester, Massachusetts. Mr. Kingman has many achievements to his credit in his nine years at Prem-Day. He was very instrumental in the addition of the excellent gym to the campus. From time to time, 'one sees the name of the headmastfer of Pem-Day in print following his participation in discussions and various panels. Occasionally he makes trips to cities throughout the nation, keeping up-to-date in the mo- dern methods of education. Mr. Kingman's New England accent seems to add to the pleasure and interestthat comes from his reading the Bible at the Monday and Friday morning assemblies. His assembly talks are encourag- ing and influential and exert a strong infiuence on the life of the student body. He teaches classes in economics and government besides substituting for absent masters. It is hard to realize how he is able to have personal interviews with each student. He is very enthusiastic about all the athletic teams and other school activities. He always has time to discuss some athletic event of the past week. He can also be iirm when the occasion arises. Since the addition of the headmaster's home, Mr. Kingman may be seen walking to school early each morning and returning late every evenin . .xdclminidfrafion The executive department of Pembrokeffiountry Day School is known by those who are associated with it for its high efficiency, which is fully appreciated by both parents and students. Few realize the importance of an effective administration, but one needs only to look, and he will find the smooth operation of the schoolas activities. If a student is too sick to attend school, a simple tele- phone call will obtain his assignments. At various times during a school year, Mrs. Jones or Mrs. Barnes can be seen searching for a student in order to relay an import- ant message from home. Any and all such matters are handled in a friendly but businesslike manner. Mr. Kingman is ably assisted in his many ofhce duties HAL JONES - Business Manager by Mrs. 'Harold Jones, who received her A. B. from Smith, and Mrs. John Barnes, a graduate of the University of Missouri. Mrs. Barnes also serves as one of the faculty advisers for the 4'Hilltop7', the student newspaper. These two women have al- ways gone out of their way to solve the problems of the student in which the school can be of assistance. Mr. Hal Jones is the school's business manager par excellence. He is an alumnus of Pembroke- Country Day and is a graduate of Harvard University. It is said that no man is indispensable, but Hal Jones has become practically that at Pem-Day, having always had the best interests of the school at heart. He has also acquired an enviable record as head freshman coach during the past four years. Mr. Jones is assisted in his oflice by Miss Baines, a graduate of Central Missouri State College. Miss Raines has made possible typing classes for students, and the results have proved of value in college work. Mrs. Jones Mrs. Barnes M555 Raines Page ll
