careers begin in business department Pembroke High School’s Business Department pro- vides strong background in clerical business work to prepare the students for careers in the business world. Although typing is the most popular course offered, the department also offers training in areas of business machines, bookkeeping and shorthand. In addition to classroom courses, departments in Distributive Educa- tion which provides part time jobs in area retail stores. At these stores, students are provided with on the job train- ing experience. The Business Department provides the student with a complete, balanced curriculum necessary for a business career and a few essentials such as typing for college-bound students. Grading the previous day’s speed drills, Mrs. Polly Rice discovers an- other mistake Taking a break from class routine, Mrs. Charlotte But- ler, Mr. Mike Paul, Mr. William Carmines, Mrs. Nancy Betts, and Mrs. Carolyn Shannonhouse enjoy an early season football game.
