LATIN CLUB ln:--1 llli ill' mas carols are sung in Latin. 54 The Pembroke Academy Latin Club, affiliated with the National and New Hampshire Junior Classical Leagues, is now in its third year Its main purpose is to encourage the Latin students to take an interest in and to better appreciate classical culture of ancient Greece and Rome. The initiation is really done in Roman style. Togas add au thenticity to it and the slave sale helps give everyone a taste of Ro man life. A trip to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts to see the Clas sical section of films based upon Roman life add variety and depth to the club's activities. ln December the Saturnalia, the Roman counter part of our Christmas, is celebrated.
