STANDING: Mr. Reidenbach, A. Sauld, R. Bierstaker, E. Dunlap, K. Kubick, and C. Seidel SITTING: M. Wilson, A. Duris, R. Erickson, and L. Bierstaker As a result of the Town Hall fire last spring, the basketball sessions were carried out with great difficulty. It is difficult to determine whether the fact that the floor at Niagara was a better one or the fact that some of our boys were not able to practice regularly had any bearing on the final standings. Our ability to outscore our opponents in the field goal department was balanced by our poor showing in the free throw department since, in many cases, it was our lack of ability on the free throw line that lost the game. As in other years the team at times played so brilliantly that they seemed unbeatable, as in the second game with Wausaukee. In the first game we suffered nearly a 20 point loss and then returned to win by 4 points. Pemb1ne's longest lived glory was a four game winning streak in midseason. We could have extended it by getting over Florence. It proved futile as we got nipped by a score of 54 to 53. In tournament play this year we were paired against the strong Niagara team in our first game. They proved too much as we were eliminated the first night of the tournament. Including tournament play, the team finished the season with a 6 win and 9 loss record. The wins can be largely attributed to the fine coaching of Ken Reidenbach who did a very good job of making the best of the existing con- ditions as a basketball coach. With hopes that the gymnasium will be finished next year this page will be concluded with the team and individual statistics of the pembine Lena 51 1955-1956 season. Dobbertin. ?aaz'ZaZZ In the 1955 season the Pembine Panthers put together the will to win, good sportsmanship and last but most important, good coaching, which was handled very efficiently by Ken Reidenbach. As in other years, the team had its ups and spectators by pulling off brilliant upsets one game confidence could lose to a lower rated squad. Among downs, amazing the and as the result of the better gales was the one with Niagara which ended in a 0 to 0 tie. The Panthers outplayed the Badgers by a large margin as far as yards were concerned, but just couldn't push over a touchdown. A disappointment came when the Panthers permitted an underdog Goodman team to win by a score of 13 to 14. This proves that a team can lose by over confidence. The average weight of last falls team was about 180 pounds per man which is a fair size high school team. The Panthers scored 82 points, to 46 for opponents.
