A Pella receiver fumbled a punt, and Indianola recovered on Pel1a's 24-yard line. Pel1a's defense failed to hold as Indianola ground out the remaining yards for a TD. Pella got inside the 10-yard line three times but never could manage to score. PELLA THROTTLES SIGOURNEY 27-6 The Pella Little Dutch bounced back in- to the winning column by pounding out a 27-6 win over non-conference rival Sigourney Quarterback Butch Sheppard led the Pella attack, scoring the first Pella touchdown on a quarterback sneak. He also threw touch- down passes to Den Besten and Van Roekel. Pella's defense was excellent, limiting Sigourney to only two first downs. PELLA RALLIES FOR 19-14 LAST-QUARTER VICTORY The Little Dutch scored on an 11-yard pass play from Sheppard to Van Halen with less than two minutes remaining to slip past a stubborn Albia 19-14. Pella scored first, but Albia scored twice in the third quarter for a 14-7 lead. Pella added a TD and were behind 14-13 until the final TD. The Little Dutch took a 6-0 lead in the second quarter as Sheppard passed to Van Halen for the score. The same combina- tion clicked again in the third quarter on a 10-yard pass play. PELLA EDGES CHARITON IN 8-'7 THRILLER Pella High downed Chariton 8-'7 in a thrilling victory as they blocked a punt in the last minute in Chariton's end zone. This gave them a safety and two points which won the game. Pella had scored earlier in the last quarter, overcoming a '7-0 halftime lead by Chariton. This was probably one of the most thrill- ing games ever seen on the local field. 7 Wdetofzq CARROLL POPE HARLEY VAN ROEKEL BUTCH SHEPPARD DUANE DE VRIES Van Gorp recovers a fumble. Pella 's scoring came on a 14-yeard pass from Sheppard to Bogaard in the first quarter, the same two on a 47-yeard aerial in the fourth, and Van I-lalen's plunge of four yards for the tying score with one minute left in the game. FIRST HALF SCORES LET DUTCH PAST CENTERVILLE 13-0 Pe11a's Little Dutch struck twice in the first half on long drives to down Centerville 13-0 and stay close behind Indianola in the SCIC race before a huge homecoming crowd at Pella. The first score came on a 765 yard march in the first quarter with Sheppard going over from the one. In the second period, Den Besten caught a short pass from Sheppard for the final TD. PELLA UPSET 21-12 BY VALLEY A fired-up Valley High team beat Pella 21-12 in the final game of the season.
