Front row: Gerald Van Wyngarden, John Gosselink, robe custodiansg Chester Geels, Treasurer HE SCHOOL CHORUS has enjoyed the advantage of practicing daily this year instead of only once each week as it has in recent years. Chorus has been added to the school curriculum as an ac- credited course. The all-girl chorus met each week on Tuesday and the all-boy chorus met on Thursday. Mrs. Roskamp has been our capable director. She introduced a number of new sacred and classical songs. Several numbers have been presented by the chorus as a group, individual groups, and solo- ists at meetings throughout the school year in connection with church or school activities. In the spring the choir made a tour of the vi- cinity giving concerts in the various churches. Special groups include a girls' sextet, a boys' quartet, and a mixed ensemble. 50

HE SECOND YEAR of the publication of The Echo brought many changes to the school paper. First of all, there is the course in Journalism which serves as a guide for all Echo staffers. This class met three times per Week during the first semester and twice per week during the second semester. Mr. Kamp served as faculty advisor. The greatest impetus during the year was the Quill and Scroll Charter which was granted to The Echo early in November. The paper has also been increased in size. Special columns, features, and a sports section have been added. Subscriptions for The Echo were not sold this year. Certain issues were sold by the students while others were distributed among the congregations at large. Advertising was the chief source of fi- nances. L15100 was also received from the board and S50 from Mr. Andreas of Cedar Rapids. 52
