Seniors oi '49 -' Farewell! Your brief period of high school training is over. Yes, looking back you can see now that it was briefg and as the distance back to your high school days lengthens in the years to come, your four years' stay at Pella Christian High School will be seen as one of the sweetest and most pleasant periods of your lives. Perhaps you feel relieved now that the hard work is over. That is understandable. There have been many difiicult lessons to learn and hard problems to master. Not everything has been pleasant. Yet, even so, in not very many months you will probably wish that you could live your high school days over once more. Perhaps even now as you reach the end of your high school days some of you may not be quite sure whether you are happy about it or not. Perhaps your heart is divided between gladness and sadness. x Yet you cannot remain here. This is a training place for bigger things. Your high school training looked forward beyond itself. As you leave us, may I remind you of the motto you have chosen: Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way. That's a good motto. Take it and live by it. Doing so, you cannot go wrong. Use your talents and gifts, your strength, yes, all that you are, for God and your Saviour. Make God's Word the Guide and Rule of your lifeg choose His paths as yours. Such a course will enable you to at- tain the greatest usefulness and to render the greatest possible service. Such a course will also prove to be the way of greatest contentment, blessedness and joy. We regret to see you leave us. We have enjoyed your fellowship during these swift-iiying four years. But now, farewell! May the Lord God bless you richly! May you serve Him gladly, devotedly, faithfully! Prove that you uttered no emp- ty words when you chose as your motto: Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way. F. M. Huizenga 9
