5 F 5 S E Q1 w 5 z 3 4 1 1 : 5 , I , s 3- . , Pell High Is Foreword Pell High means to many hearts many things of life Day -to-day living, the joys, the strife Of ball games, parades, floats, and queens, Pep meetings, rallies, and hectic scenesg A snake dance, a prom, success or defeat, Precis, we write, and ice cream, we eat, Bonfires, trumpets, the beat of a drum, Photographers, yearbooks, typewriter hum, All of the memories, thoughts, and tears, Pass on to another through the endless years. Gym shoes, tickets, and chewing gum, Report cards, demerits, the daily hum-drum Of term papers, Spotlights, and absentee blanks, Fretting and stewing about senior class ranksg The silence, the noise, confusion or cheers - All of the mem'ries pass on through the years. A conference, the flag, ten-minute breaks, The passing time with minor heartachesg Baccalaureate, commencement, cap and gown, The excitement which rises all over town, A step to the future with no definite goal, Still through the years the memories hold. Pell High is the culmination of our joys and fears, For she's been our LIFE for these past twelve years. - By Deborah Earle Smith Y. .inl- Table Of Contents Iqell If2gJi IS ACTIVITIES ORGANIZATIONS SPORTS BEAU TIES , FAVORITES , PERSONALITIES LEADERSHIP CLASSES JUNIOR HIGH Q SNAPSHOTS ADVERTISEMENTS ,ff-r'f ,I .51 M in My Eli CITY HIGH G VIIASI 1. ,, , V! No band was ever more determined than the 1967-68 PELL HIGH MARCHING BAND! The group began practice without a director, then in late August, Frank Landreth, a former Pell High student and a music major at Jacksonville State University, agreed to direct until he had to leave for the Armed Services. Then John Slovensky, the science teacher, met with and helped the band. But these students did the MAIN job. They planned their half-time and parade performances and they practiced untiringly and with determina- tion. They did so well that they were invited to perform at Ragland High School's Homecoming and they performed at Band Day at ISU, and they didn't miss any school event when the services of the band were needed . mnnsnwwfbf-5 'Z 'X 'fx f ff, 1 '31 1 f f 'A lg ,N 1, i --. This year a totally volunteer group consisting of Beth Coshatt, Don DeShazo, Greg 4 Harrell, Steve Henson, Phil Howard, Herbert Kerr, Gary Staples, and Margie Yates decided to work up some half-time entertainment for our basketball games. The idea seemed to be that, if national TV audiences were entertained at half-time, so could PCHS fans find equal enjoyment at home.
